Donation Station Expansion Project: Love INC Boise – $25,000
Love INC has doubled its ministry partners and families served in the past two years. This grant will expand its Donation Station facility to receive, renovate and re-purpose donations and provide the capacity for Love INC to grow exponentially.
Housing Justice Center Project: Intermountain Fair Housing Council – $30,000
The IFHC Housing Justice Center will educate the public about legal processes, rights and strategies for addressing hate and housing issues and provide legal services to people experiencing discriminatory housing. Affordable, healthy and safe housing is the crux of and critical for everyone’s financial stability, but especially for vulnerable people.
CULTURAL ARTS
The MakeSpace Loft at BCT: Boise Contemporary Theater – $30,000
MakeSpace Loft at BCT will be a dedicated space for BCT Theater Lab, launched in 2011, which is devoted to the development of new work by young artists. It also will serve many other students, artists and organizations who lack affordable, modern space where they can create, practice and perform inspiring new works for our community.
EDUCATION
Mental Health Support at Meridian Elementary: Lee Pesky Learning Center – $25,000
Mental health at Meridian Elementary School will be supported by providing self-regulation strategies and ongoing classroom mentoring over two school years.
ENVIRONMENT
Garden City Pollinator Habitat: Bee City USA Garden City – $21,500
Garden City Pollinator Habitat will call attention to the serious threats to pollinators and inspire people to take action. In a beautiful garden, visitors will learn about bees, watch them work in wooden bee houses and learn how to help them.
HEALTH
Idaho Suicide Prevention Hotline: Jannus – $30,000
Idaho Suicide Prevention Hotline will have enhanced outreach to rural Southwest Idaho to raise awareness and increase the use of crisis- and suicide-prevention services. Idaho has one of the highest suicide rates in the country; suicide is the second-leading cause of death for teens, and 13% report they have planned a suicide attempt.
ABOVE & BEYOND GRANT
Low-income Job-Access Transportation: Valley Regional Transit – $40,000
Used grant funding to provide more flexible transportation to jobs (4,000 round trips) to very-low and extremely-low income members of our community. Many people live 5 miles or more from the nearest fixed bus stop or they have jobs that start or end during times when the regular bus service is not available. Without this help, these people would be unable to maintain employment.
