Building Capacity, Maximizing Efficiency, and Streamlining Methodology: Useful Glassworks – $25,000

Trained homeless individuals, those recently released from prison, and refugees for the job market. The organization has a very high job placement record for those trained. This grant involves a redesign of the facility to allow for a 50% increase in the production of high quality glassware, and a corresponding increase in the number of participants served. (Formerly Sustainable Futures.)

New American Law Academy: Idaho Law Foundation – $13,500

Classes were offered to refugees about American Law practices that are relevant to their lives.

CULTURAL ARTS

Where Art and History Meet: Glenns Ferry Historical Museum – $24,654

Supported the renovation of a historic schoolhouse into an accessible museum, created an outdoor venue/meeting place for Cultural Heritage programs in the summer and renovated and equipped an area of the indoor space with technology to support the digitization of existing historical archives year around.

EDUCATION

After School Transportation Program: Boys & Girls Clubs of Ada County – $10,000

The project provided transportation from school to the Boys and Girls Club of Garden City for students from Taft, Lowell, Mountain View, and Koelsch elementary schools.

Expanded New Directions in Supportive Services for Boise’s Homeless Population: Interfaith Sanctuary Housing Services – $19,500

Added an additional halftime social worker to help more of the single men and women move from homelessness to permanent housing. Working with a social worker has an immediate impact on the resources and prospects of a homeless person.

ENVIRONMENT

Better Utilization of Volunteers to Build Environmentally Sustainable Trails for Use by Anyone who Loves to Hike, Bike, or Run: Southwest Mountain Biking Association – $20,000

Purchased a Single Track, 240 high-tech mini-bulldozer to rough cut new multiuse trails, allowing SWIMBA to build more miles of trails for nonmotorized use more efficiently and with minimal environmental and visual impact.

HEALTH

Creating Idaho’s First School Based Health Clinic at Meridian Elementary: Family Medicine Residency of Idaho – $25,000

Funded a pilot project to create Idaho’s first school based health care clinic to provide basic primary care, behavioral health, referral to specialists, nutrition and prevention education, and financial assistance thru Medicaid enrollment and sliding fee scale for non and underinsured children and their family members who do not have a primary care medical home.

Garden City Community Clinic Dental Expansion & Dental Specialty Referral Network: Genesis World Mission, Garden City Community Clinic – $24,397

Uninsured dental issues are among the three top causes of ER visits, overloading local ER departments. This project developed a Volunteer Dental Specialty Network modeled after Genesis’ successful Volunteer Physician Network to create a referral process to offload ER personnel.
