Added new types of instruments and doubled the number of children in current program, also provided a 3day summer music camp. Community Impact: The “Fiddle Capital of the World,” Weiser, Idaho, had no orchestra or stringed instrument at the time of this award.
Expanded Caldwell P16 program into high school, enabling students with ability but no financial resources to engage in college preparation classes and activities.
Created a space for families, parents and children, to get help with language learning (literacy for the whole family), computer training and access to community and social resources.
Developed a robotics lab for fourth graders and created a statewide contest for high schooler’s integrating science, technology, engineering and math.
This program addressed two issues: doubling the capacity for glass recycling in Southwest Idaho society and providing job training and counseling to enable paroled women to enter the workforce. (Previously, Usful Glassworks.)
Added 30 volunteers to act as guardians ad litem for 167 children in Canyon, Gem, Owyhee, Payette, Washington and Adams counties.
In Valley and Adams counties, where unemployment approached 25% in 2011, this program provided dental care, eye care, and mental health counseling to adults who have no access to health care insurance.
