Develops a robotics lab for 4th-12th graders and creates a statewide contest for high schooler’s integrating science, technology, engineering and math.
Gateway School of Language and Culture: Family Resource Center $5,000
Creates a space for families, parents and children, to get help with language learning (literacy for the whole family), computer training and access to community and social resources.
Lee Pesky Learning Center: Caldwell College Aspirations $6,528
Expands Caldwell P16 program into high school, enabling students with ability but no financial resources to engage in college preparation classes and activities.
Microenterprise Training and Assistance: Advancing Lives through Microenterprise Assistance $25,000
Establishes an ongoing, revolving loan fund specifically targeting low income women in Ada and Canyon counties, also providing them with training technical assistance in business planning.
National Old-Time Fiddlers, Inc.: ”Squeaky Strings” After School Music Program $20,000
Adds new types of instruments and doubles the number of children in current program, also providing a 3day summer music camp. Community Impact: The “Fiddle Capital of the World,” Weiser, Idaho, currently has no orchestra or stringed instrument.
Sustainable Futures: Doubling Recycling Glass Production Capacity and Efficiency $20,000
This program addresses two issues: doubling the capacity for glass recycling in Southwest Idaho society and providing job training and counseling to enable paroled women to enter the workforce. (Currently Ūsful Glassworks.)
Third Judicial District Guardian Ad Litem Program: Give an Abused and Neglected Child a Voice $5,000
Adds 30 volunteers to act as guardians ad litem for 167 children in Canyon, Gem, Owyhee, Payette, Washington and Adams counties.
